Area Rugs FAQs
Our Naples showroom features over 8,000 area rugs in all colors, sizes, patterns, and materials. We carry styles ranging from traditional and contemporary to coastal and outdoor, with options for every budget.
All in-stock rugs include a 48-hour return policy and are fully refundable, giving you the opportunity to try the rug in your home before making a final decision. Special order rugs are non-refundable.
Choosing the right rug size depends on the size of the room, furniture placement, and the overall look you want to achieve. In general, larger rugs help spaces feel more open and connected, while rugs that are too small can make a room feel disconnected.
In most living rooms, area rugs should be large enough for at least the front legs of the furniture to sit on the rug. Popular living room rug sizes include 8×10, 9×12, and 10×14 depending on the size of the space.
Dining room rugs should generally extend beyond the edges of the table, so chairs remain on the rug when pulled out. After measuring your table, we typically recommend adding approximately 24 inches of rug space on all sides.
Hand tufted rugs are created using a tufting tool in a process similar to needlepoint. They are generally thicker and more affordable. Hand knotted rugs are individually knotted by hand, making them extremely durable, highly detailed, and widely considered the highest level of rug craftsmanship.
Wool, nylon, polypropylene, and performance fibers are all known for durability. The best material depends on your lifestyle, traffic levels, pets, and how the rug will be used.
For homes with pets, we typically recommend durable, easy-to-clean rug fibers such as polypropylene, nylon, or performance blends. Patterned rugs and lower-pile constructions also tend to work well because they help hide pet hair, footprints, and minor stains. For active households, many homeowners prefer rugs designed for everyday durability and easy maintenance.
Shedding is a normal characteristic of many wool rugs, especially when they are new. In most cases, shedding gradually lessens over time with regular vacuuming and everyday use. If shedding is a concern, we typically recommend a synthetic rug or a hand knotted rug, which generally shed less.
Yes! Rug pads help reduce slipping, add comfort, protect your floors, and extend the life of your rug by minimizing movement and wear. That’s why every rug purchased at Hadinger Flooring comes with a complimentary deluxe pad. It’s just one more way we help you enjoy your rug for years to come!
Regular vacuuming with suction only (no beater bar) can help remove dirt and debris that wear down rug fibers over time. For spots and spills, most manufacturers recommend using a mild soap or detergent with water. For more help, visit our rug Care & Maintenance page.
“Sprouting” is a normal occurrence in many rugs and does not mean the rug is unraveling or defective. It happens when individual fibers work their way to the surface and appear slightly longer than the surrounding pile. To fix, simply trim the sprouts carefully with scissors so they are flush with the rug pile. Never pull them, as doing so may damage the rug.
